On va s'aimer encore (we'll love again)
love him!

I've been out of school for a week now and I'm back to pinning like a mad woman on Pinterest
We've started looking at apartments again because my school money should start coming in mid-January and Lee is up for a promotion at work which is pretty effing exciting. So, yeah, I'm back to designing our new imaginary apartment and thought I'd post some of my latest lusts.

This guy below is the inspiration for my birthday cake. Lee pretty much failed this year but I'm hoping in March he'll be able to get someone who can make me something as beautiful and simple as this! I wish him luck. lol

great time!

we had an awesome time at the Chalet (cottage)! We froze our butts off but we also skidoo'd and sledded like crazy!!!! We ate moose burgers and played with a fire, drank and watched tv. It was a good time to just relax and enjoy each others company.

the snow storm came and went and wasn't as bad as we thought! we just have to keep an eye on the temperature now. if it drops below zero there might be black ice (ice on the road) which could mean a dangerous ride. but so far so good!

over nighter?

there might be an over night trip in the works for tomorrow! it depends on the weather but if all goes well we'll be in a cottage in the moutains by 8 am! I'm really hoping this happens and am already packing (yes just for 1 night) I really would enjoy taking pictures and spending an entire day with my niece, while also having some time with my hubby. So, I'll let you know the decision as soon as I know.

it's over.

christmas season has come to an end and i'm happy about it.
this holiday season has been a very thrifty one. it's the first time i haven't been able to contribute anything (financially) and we definitely noticed a difference.
but anywhos, it's done and over and we still had a wonderful time with family and friends. today, we walked around this beautiful park! it's only about 5 minutes from us and it was a great discovery!

We are CHAMPIONS!!! We won the first season of dodgeball for Ligue de Dodgeball de Quebec and I could not be more proud of my team! We worked hard and kicked ass and had our ass kicked a couple of times but we stuck through it and came out on top!!!  It was an awesome season and I cannot wait until January 11 when we'll start all over again!

what a week!

This has been quite a busy week for me and the weekend is looking to be just as full!

First, I started school this week. Going from not doing anything all day for 6 months to taking French Classes for 26 hours a week takes A LOT of adjusting. I'm enjoying it and really impressed with how much french I've retained since highschool but at the same time it's mentally exhausting and nerve wrecking. I think what's helping me out the most is having the great group of girls I've met. They're really helping me cope and adjust to school life once again.
Dodgeball happened this week like usual and our team is currently in SECOND place! We really came out of nowhere and I don't think anyone expected us to do as well as we did. It's so much fun and I'm sad that the season is ending next week. We're hoping for a 1st place victory but we'll be happy for even 2nd or 3rd.
On Wednesday the ladies and I volunteered at a food drive. It was interesting but fun and we just kind of made a game out of it. I was glad to be able to do something like that. I've always talked about volunteering and now I'm actually doing it. It's a good feeling :)
Yesterday, Lee and I went to a happy hour at the Morrin Centre Library. It was a good time and we mingled and met lots of new people. After we came home and watched some Dexter. I love Dexter! LOL
Today I'm actually skipping school to go to a meeting with Immigration Quebec. They're going to be testing me and evaluating my french knowledge to see what kind of programs they can offer me and also to see if I'll qualify for financial aid. fingers crossed also I have to order Lee's Giant Birthday Cupcake!! lol (it's what he wanted!)
Tomrrow we MUST finish our Christmas presents and finish buying some also. Then we're heading to the bar with Miranda and some friends to have a few drinks and Celebrate Lee and Simon's birthday weekend (simon is one of our Spaceball teammates) And then sunday is Lee's actual game day party! We're hanging with some friends and playing games and making pizzas! it should be a good time.  :)

I've been trying to keep my camera around more than usual so hopefully I'll have some pictures to take and will post on monday!

Have a great weekend!!!

my favorite thing to do lately is to drink tea and people watch! I won't have much time for that anymore, now that school is starting. lol

tonight we have a hockey party to attend with some friends and tomorrow is our 2nd Christmas party. It's been a SERIOUSLY busy week for me. On top of everything I joined a Night-Goers Committee in which we basically will be planning monthly events for the Voices of English Speaking Quebec (VEQ) I'm definitely keeping myself on my toes now that I can be involved with all of these things. It's nice to be apart of a place. I'm really trying to make Quebec my home.

i've become truly, madly and deeply in love with......FONDUE!

what is fondue? Well, according to WIKI,  Fondue is a Swiss dish of melted cheese served in a communal pot (caquelon) over a spirit lamp (rechaud), and eaten by dipping long-stemmed forks with bread into the cheese. It was promoted as a Swiss national dish by the Swiss Cheese Union in the 1930s and became popular in North America in the 1960s. Since the 1950s, the name "fondue" has been generalized to other dishes where a food is dipped into a communal pot of hot liquid: chocolate fondue, where pieces of fruit are dipped into a melted chocolate mixture, and fondue bourguignonne, where pieces of meat are cooked in hot oil.

It is SO delish and easy to make, it's a great party meal and maker.
So, Friday my new group of lady friends and I are throwing our significant others a Christmas party! I'm contemplating on what to bring mainly because I hate only bringing 1 dish. So, I'm thinking of making a cake similar to one I made last week. It was a moist chocolate cake with almond buttercream filling and had a chocolate ganache poured over it. Needless to say, it was fucking awesome! lol
I'm also thinking of making my own bruschetta and garlic toasts, and lastly........

It's a Baked Fontina Cheese fondue and it literally has my mouth drooling! I cannot wait to try it and it's honestly so simple that it should take about 15 minutes out of my prep time. I'm now on the hunt for a really good fontina to make this recipe a homerun!

I'll let you know how it goes.....Are you guys going to any Christmas parties? Are you making or wearing anything special? oh and if you get a chance I would strongly advise that you try that chocolate cake. it really was amazing.

school days

I register for school on Wednesday!!!! I'm recieving my financial aid and cannot be more excited that I'm on this road! Now,  I have to take at least 6 months of French before I can take regular classes but I'm totally cool with that. I just love the idea of being able to call myself a student again (it's been far too long) I'm not sure what I'm going to do after but I know that I'll be done with my major Francisation courses and anything after that will be optional. I'm so ready to be in school and January can't get here fast enough.

dodge ball tournament on Tuesday (wish us Luck)  and then another Christmas party with us Ladies and our Gents on Friday.

Salsa Night!

Salsa Night was a BLAST! I had so much fun with these ladies and I think we really connected in a way we hadn't by just going to the mall together. It's a lot harder to make friends once you become an adult which is why I believe I held on to friendships I believe should have been let go long before. I look forward to more Ladies Nights for they are much needed.

julia, me, mariya

Ivan(random guy hitting on jess) , Jessillynn, Miranda

btw... it turns out I'm an awful Salsa Dancer! So, I'll be practicing on youtube for when we go again!

this week...

Last night was another victory for our dodgeball team! We tied with 2 other teams for 1st place with 9 wins. I was voted team captain which puts me in charge one money handling  and putting together the team shirts and finalizing a team name. So far, I have it squared down to 3 names:  Deathball, Spaceballs or "Wouldn't You Like To Know" (that one is because everyone keeps asking what our name is!) We're going to have an official vote this week. What do you guys think? Which name do you like better? (keep in mind the team is 4 guys and 2 girls. So, the first 2 names are pretty nerdy, but fun!)

I'm going Salsa Dancing tonight! I honestly don't know how I'm going to do that because I'm so sore from dodgeball and I'm pretty sure I hurt my elbow throwing last night. But, it should still be fun. I'm going with the ladies I met at the english meeting. This is the 3rd time we've hung out (cept for Miranda who I see at dodgeball everyweek) and it's really nice to do things as a group with these ladies. I'm still not 100% on what I'm wearing (nervous about heels and ice) but I'm hoping for something semi-sexy/semi/comfy, let's see how that works out.

Saturday is our first Christmas party. We're going to our friend Lori's house for her annual soiree and it should be quite fun. She' knows a lot of people in the english speaking community and her husband Glenn and Lee get along really well. Now, Lori and Glenn aren't our age. lol I believe Lori is 55 and I think Glenn is a little younger but they're such nice people. I consider them to be more of an aunt and uncle than friends. I'm not sure what I'm making for the party yet but I suppose I should probably get on that ASAP.

Sunday is going to be a busy day. We're going to the flea market with a couple we met through Lee's work. They're really nice and it should be a good time. We haven't really had a double date in a while and though, the flea market doesn't count as a date in my book it might lead to one in the future  :)
On Sunday we're also going to see the musical Guys and Dolls. I LOVE musical theatre and am even hoping to audition for their next production. I wanted to audition for this one but I was nervous and didn't know anyone so I chickened out. I won't make the same mistake twice.

As you can see, we've become quite the busy bees and It's great! I miss having a social life such as this one. I'm sure with the holidays it's going to become quite busy for us and I welcome it. It makes up for the days of sitting at home doing nothing.

I have more stuff coming up next week such as another christmas party and volunteering and a cocktail hour. I plan on having my camera on hand for the next couple of weeks and hopefully take lots of pics!

enjoy your week.

oh and just an fyi if you're still thinking about the dodgeball names. the other teams are as follows:

One Ball To Rule Them All...
Les V8  (not sure what that means.)
Anglophones Anonymous (AA)
Balls of Glory

Home Sweet Home!

As of 2:23pm today Canada is officially my home. I couldn't help but have the cheesiest smile on my face when the agent shook my hand and welcomed me to my new home. It was EXCITING! So, next week my goal is to get my new SIN (social insurance number) apply for my Medical Insurance and set up a meeting with an agent to get me into French Classes and hopefully find a part time job close by. It's such a relief because I spent th last 6 months not knowing when i'd be able to start this and now it's here! I have it all at my finger tips. I cannot wait.

Other exciting news. We had our first team Dodgeball tournament this week. I'm actually a pretty darn good dodgeball player! lol Our team (No Name as of yet) won the most games i think like 15 or something like that. Leevan's team came in 3rd and I won 2 shootouts against guy and girl players! I'm really, really happy that we're doing this. It's so much fun and great exercise. You know what they say. A couple that plays together, stays together.

so yeah. exciting news and exciting future ahead. can't wait!

i'll keep you posted.
